As a Catholic parish school where education, faith and family come first, we know how important it is to maintain learning and allow our students to grow and thrive. The goal of a Catholic education is to help students mature into Christ-like people who are more likely to pray daily, regularly attend church, live out their Catholic identity as an adult, and increase their stewardship. This allows young people to fill a critical role in the future life of our Church, our country, and our world.
This year has been challenging. Each of our lives has been affected in some way by the pandemic. Yet, here at Our Lady of Lourdes, our commitment to excellence in education remains stronger than ever. It is our school's mission to prepare our graduates for a rich spiritual life, academic excellence, creative pursuits, and compassionate service in our changing world. We strive each day to ensure that we can continue to deliver on our mission.
We have been blessed to be able to bring our students back on campus in a hybrid-learning model, but operating within the COVID-19 guidelines has created challenges. Enrollment has been intentionally capped to allow for six feet of physical distancing between students in each classroom resulting in a reduction of tuition-based revenue. In addition, we are unable to gather as a community for fundraising events. Virtual fundraising events are not generating the same revenue as traditional in-person events. We anticipate that our largest fundraiser of the year, the SHINE Auction, will generate half of the usual funding. We need to bridge the gap in our operating budget. The Development Team, in collaboration with Principal Hundt, Fr. Woody and the School Commission have determined that we must raise $230,000 between now and June 30, 2021 in order to bridge this gap. We realize this is an ambitious goal but we are filled with hope knowing the generosity of our Lourdes community.
You can help us reach the $230,000 goal by supporting the fundraising campaigns and events outlined or clicking here to make a donation to the Lourdes Fund.
