About Mrs. Olson
Hello! My name is Mrs. Olson, and I am thrilled to be teaching 4th grade! This will be my fourteenth year teaching and my twelfth year at Our Lady of Lourdes. I am very excited to be back in 4th grade full-time after spending a few years in 5th grade, a couple of years in 4th & 5th grade, and one year part-time teaching. I am committed to helping students feel safe, encouraging them to learn and reach their full potential, and fostering their growing faith. I value a strong student-teacher-parent relationship and expect students and parents to play large roles in the learning process.
I grew up with my mom and dad and three older siblings in a tiny town on the Oregon coast called Florence. Before I became a teacher, I earned a bachelors degree in social work from the University of Portland and spent a year as a caseworker with Multnomah County Developmental Disabilities Services working with 0-21 year-olds and their families. After spending a year as a caseworker, I knew I wanted to become a teacher, so I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from U.P. I cannot think of a better way to serve as a social worker AND as an educator at Lourdes!
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am married and have two boys (Abe is 5, Whittaker is almost 2, and our goldendoodle, Daisy, is 2). Together, we love to be outdoors hiking, camping, and exploring!
