About Mrs. Gard
This is Mrs. Gard’s 30th year at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic school. It is her 16th year teaching music at OLL in grades preschool-8 and her 15th year directing the Instrumental Bands for grades 5-8. (Previously she was the third grade teacher for 14 years.)
Mrs. Gard’s undergraduate work was in music education (K-12) and Psychology. She loves to sing, and she also plays piano, guitar, and clarinet. She sometimes plays clarinet in the Southwest Washington Wind Symphony.
Mrs. Gard was in band and choral ensembles throughout her early school and college years. After college she participated in contemporary music worship teams at church for over 10 years and sang in a small women’s vocal ensemble, performing contemporary and traditional Christian music. For several years Mrs. Gard taught piano privately in her own piano studio, as well.
Mrs. Gard enjoys reading, going for walks, scrap booking, hiking, watching Dr. Who episodes with her family, bike riding, and attending Broadway musicals.
Mrs. Gard and her husband have a 17 year old boy named Brendan (Dan) who attends high school now. Mrs. Gard is also very blessed to have three wonderful grown stepchildren and their families (including seven grandchildren) living nearby. Mrs. Gard and her family have two cats, one golden retriever, a huge aquatic turtle, a hermit crab, and 3 koi fish. She and her family enjoy relaxing at home and going to the beach. They also love to read, watch movies, and take their golden retriever on walks together!
