May Newsletter

Dear Preschool Parents,

We are looking forward to Moms coming to visit on May 12th and 13th for muffins. We’d like you to enjoy a muffin and have your child show you around the class to see what’s new. We hope you can come for even a short visit with your child. Invitations are on their way home!
We’re almost done with our unit on insects; however, we will be watching our six Painted Lady larva closely for a while. They have grown very fast and are starting to slow down. By the end of next week most of them should have become a chrysalis and after two weeks or so we should have butterflies! Both classes know the life cycle of butterflies and ladybugs and what features are common in all insects. Most all insects have 6 legs, 3 body parts, and antennae. It’s been a fun unit and I think they’ll enjoy looking for bugs all summer long!
Our next unit is on Community Helpers. So far a police officer, nurse, and physician’s assistant have volunteered to talk to our class. We would love anyone else interested in coming to class.
The May Sharing calendar is out. I went ahead and scheduled it on Wednesdays and we’ll try and fit it in during snack time. When we sit in our circle we work on what it should look like and what it should sound like during share. We will not have sharing in June. I am planning to do more with a short class meeting format so all will get a chance to speak as we pass an object. Our mornings go by so quickly that we just can’t fit everything in!

Thank you again:
• Our water table is a popular spot. Thank you for sending in extra water toys.
• We collected quite a bit more Auction money last month. We appreciated all of your help.
• Preschool memory books: We have quite a few in and are starting to work on them already. Your child needs a 1 inch binder and about 10 plastic sleeves. Let me know if you need help rounding one up!
• We’re hoping for more nice weather so we can get outside and play even more. Tennis shoes are the safest for the little ones. Loose boots, sandals, and slip on shoes are not safe on the play structure.
• Another thank you for the daily snacks and juice. The kids enjoy the variety sent in everyday.

Looking ahead:
We are planning an end of year Field Trip on June 11, probably to Kid’s Club, and an end of year picnic the week before school is out. We’ll have more on that later! Thanks for all that you do. It’s such fun being with your kids and seeing how much they have grown and changed. We are looking forward to a great month of May!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Sedivy
and
Mrs. Runyon.
