Student Service

Student Service Projects are an important part of the total educational experience for students at OLL. Students of all grade levels participate in Christian service oportunities throughout the year. Students in upper grades identify, plan, and administer projects.

Examples of 2007-08 service projects year at Our Lady of Lourdes School:

  • Middle school students held a book drive for the Vancouver YWCA, contributing 300 books to the organization.

  • Middle school students have lent a helping hand at monthly Our Lady of Lourdes Senior Citizen Luncheons, helping to serve and clean-up as needed.

  • A continuing 7th grade tradtion is making and selling spook-o-grams for Halloween. The profits this year go to the Jeanne Berens Ghormley Memorial Scholarship Fund for the benefit of Our Lady of Lourdes students.

  • 4-5 Mult-grade (Mrs. Ferguson's class) maintains an aluminum can recycling program within the school. We donate the cans we collect to the Humane Society so that they can use the money they receive from them for their work with animals. We also remove the tabs. A lady who works for the Humane Society asked that we do that last year. The money from the tabs goes toward free minutes of dialysis for kidney patients.

  • Mrs. Peterson's 4th grade class helped rake leaves throughout the Lourdes neighborhood on November 15th.
