Paying for a Lourdes Education
Cost of Education
Tuition rates at Our Lady of Lourdes do not cover the actual cost of education per child. To make tuition affordable for school families the cost is covered through a combination of tuition, parish subsidies, tuition assistance, and fundraising revenue. Instructions for the 2018-19 school year explain the Fulcrum and Lourdes applications.
Our Lady of Lourdes encourages all families to pay the total cost of education per child if possible. For families who are unable to pay their full tuition, Our Lady of Lourdes offers need-based scholarships to reduce tuition expense.
Tuition and fees account for approximately 75% of the actual cost of education. Tuition rates are calculated with the assumption that 100% of school families will participate in the annual school auction and 100% of families will also participate in the Angels for Education Annual Campaign to the extent they are able. School families are also required to participate in the SCRIP program and earn a minimum $150 scrip profit for the school. Fundraising programs and events are supported by parents, grandparents, parish members, and other friends of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. These additional sources of funding are critical as they allow Our Lady of Lourdes to meet scholarship and other needs of the school using a combination of donations and grants in addition to tuition dollars.

Parish Subsidy K-8
Families who are participating and active members of Our Lady of Lourdes, St. James, St. John, Sacred Heart, St. Mary, St. Phillip, Holy Redeemer or St. Thomas parishes may qualify for parish subsidy from their home parishes. Individual parishes will determine what their parish subsidy rate will be. Subsidized rates on our tuition rate schedule are for Our Lady of Lourdes parish families only. Each family must arrange subsidy directly with their Pastor.
Scrip is an important fundraiser at Our Lady of Lourdes school. Scrip is a gift card fundraiser. Each family is responsible for raising $150 in profit. Scrip cards earn between 1 and 50% profit depending on the vendor. After a family reaches $150 in profit, a scholarship for 50% of the remaining profit will be offered to the family for tuition for the following year.
The largest portion of annual tuition assistance comes from the Angels for Education Annual Giving Campaign. School families are asked to participate in the campaign when they register. The total amount of tuition assistance awarded each year is determined by how much tuition assistance was raised from all sources in the prior year. Additional sources include the Fulcrum Foundation (a foundation dedicated to the support of Catholic schools in Western Washington), the Thomas and Velda Mae LaPierre Scholarship Fund, the Gabriel Antonio Fazio Scholarship Fund, the Buck Scholarship Fund, and various Foundation Grants.
