What We are Learning

Math
In math this week we kept working with numbers to 100. We worked with place value and with regrouping numbers in the 100’s. We are preparing to add and subtract three digit numbers.
Science
In science we really got moving with wheels. Students built ramps and constructed wheel systems to roll down them. They were able to get their wheels to do quite a few tricks- including turning a corner and parking under their ramp.

Religion
Religion this week focused on the church community and what it means to be a member of that community.
Technology
We went spent one day in the lab this week working on our rain forest reports. For the most part the webs are done and we are now focusing on typing the reports. I do not think we will be done by open house night though.
Rain Forest
As I mentioned the class has been working on their animal reports. Next week we will be in the lab twice and w will also begin constructing dioramas. We can do these without shoe boxes and supplies so please send some in! We desperately need them.

Talk about touching

This week we talked about how even other children might give unsafe touches. These are touches that hurt or touching private body parts. We talked about how important it is to tell when anyone touches you in an unsafe way. Next week we will talk about being assertive, which is something we have already touched on in our classroom community talks.

Behavior
The overall behavior of the class has gotten a little bit better. I think it is due to the fact that we only have 20 school days left and of course the weather. I don’t plan on letting up much with the teaching and homework until the very last week. I am still having trouble with some students blurting out and not following directions.
